Pulwama, Mar 05 (KNO): In a heart-warming initiative during the holy month of Ramadan, a woman has started a free 'Langar Khana' at District Hospital Pulwama, wherein she provides free Iftari and Sehri meals to the attendants and patients in the hospital. Afiqa Ali, a resident of Parigam Pulwama, married in Srinagar has started this langar khana in premises of District Hospital Pulwama where she along with a few volunteers are providing meals to hundreds of people on daily basis. Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Afiqa said that just for the sake of Allah, she under the banner of her trust 'Ansar ul Masakeen' has started a langar khana from the 1st day of Ramadan. "We are providing Iftari and Sehri meals to patients and their attendants, so that they won't suffer for food in the holy month," she said. The initiative has been widely appreciated for its humanitarian approach, ensuring that those attending to their loved ones in the hospital can observe their fasts without worrying about meal arrangements. This gesture not only alleviates the burden on attendants but also fosters a sense of community and support during challenging times. Afiqa said that around 150 people have been taking iftar meals and over 150 have been taking Sehri meals at the free langar khana on a daily basis. She said that a few volunteers have joined her, who are helping her in managing all the people at the tent installed for these people. The 'Langar Khana' operates daily, offering nutritious meals for both 'Sehri' (pre-dawn meal) and 'Iftari' (meal to break the fast) to anyone in need at the hospital. “I am basically from Pulwama, that is why I have chosen this hospital for the langar khana,” she said. “Our aim is to work for the welfare of the people and providing meals to attendants and patients is one of the works that gives you satisfaction,” she said. She said that if people will support her, she will continue this langar khana after Ramadan as well—(KNO)
